Prioritising pleasure: Do as much of what feels good as possible
We begin our work with the sacral chakra this week on the Love your WHOLE self 2024 chakra journey... (Extra Embodied members: Scroll down below the paywall under the signature)
The sacral chakra is associated with the colour orange and relates to the reproductive organs and hips.
It also relates to:
Going with the flow.
Trusting in life.
Creative expression.
Sexuality.
Sensuality.
And (my focus of the year) PLEASURE.
We're wired to thrive when we do more of what feels good and less of what doesn't
I often remind clients that there are 167 hours between sessions (if they see me for an hour a week) and it's up to THEM to make those more enjoyable, pleasurable, fulfilling, healthier choices.
When we've experienced trauma, especially sexual abuse, we can naturally contract. Live in fear v love.
For me, the daily (back in 2001) pain of endometriosis forced me to become more embodied and begin to process the trauma.
It was many many MANY years before I was able to ENJOY the gift of being in a human body.
The first place that felt enjoyable for me to be embodied was underwater. Initially in my imagination and then, prioritising my self care more, with weekly sea swims as well as the heated pool swims.
We'll cover this more in the coming weeks but for now, you might want to ask yourself, where do you feel (or even imagine you MIGHT feel) safest, most embodied (at ease in your own skin) and well?
