Lughnasadh, Happy Money, abundance, the Full Moon, generosity, choice and journal prompts
With this week's Lughnasadh theme (and tonight's Full Moon), we're focusing on the joys of giving (when we honour what feels good)...
Generosity is one of the themes of Lughnasadh (tomorrow's point of the Celtic Wheel of the Year).
The blog is about Lugh (the multitalented Irish God the festival was named for) and reflections on harvest. The Personal Peace newsletter has a gorgeously simple yoga pose to help you open up to the abundance of good things life has to offer. There's also a Full Moon and Lughnasadh oracle card reading for Extra Embodied (Wellbeing with Eve) paid subscribers.
I've been listening to an audio book, Happy Money: The Science of Smarter Spending.
One of my favourite elements is the research around how even toddlers, when expressing generosity from within (v being forced to share) feel better for giving.
The research on adults showed that even spending $5 on someone else (it's American research) can lift your mood more than spending it on yourself.
But the key, whether donating to charity or gifting something, is CHOICE.
If you want others to be generous with you, be clear about what you want AND make it clear that the choice us entirely theirs.
And for yourself, when your conditioning around putting others’ needs (real or imagined) ahead of your own, whether around your generosity with time or money, really attune to what feels good.
Clearer boundaries will help everyone involved even if it feels awkward and uncomfortable at first (and it will if you're not used to it.)
Some journal prompts
Were you praised, as a small child, for being caring and generous?
Was looking after yourself considered selfish?
What do you remember giving that felt amazing to give?
What do you remember giving that felt icky?
Perhaps, as for so many, there's trauma around it?
What does giving in a way that feels wholehearted, grounded, abundant and respectful (to yourself and others) look and feel like as you imagine it now?
Feel free to share this and comment, too. We can all encourage each other to give what feels GOOD to give and also, to accept what's freely offered and what feels good to accept.
When you think about your time and how you spend it, does THAT feel good?
This special Lughnasadh themed Yoga Nidra is designed to help you recognise which of your commitments bring YOU joy too.
And the blog and Personal Peace newsletter (and live call for Personal Peace members) offer other elements which I hope you'll enjoy and feel free to share and comment on.
with love,
I’ve ordered the book to listen to 😻
Thanks for recommending it
