Do you love yourself?
While I hope the answer is YES, it can be a struggle. Read on, as we continue our heart chakra work with this Love your WHOLE self chakra journey, for self care ideas that can help you immediately.
I've been doing this work for DECADES and still have a note on the side of my bathroom mirror saying, 'What would you do it you really loved yourself? Do THAT.'
I wrote it after reading James Clear's Atomic Habits and agreeing that of COURSE every habit and behaviour is a vote for the kind of person we wish to become.
I have so many goals and dreams but ultimately, continuing my own trauma recovery and healing means that the more I continue learning to love myself, the healthier ALL my choices will be.
There are many loving self and Self care practices I've already integrated but other newer ones (like seeing COOKING as self care! Listen / watch my interview with psychotherapist and nutritional therapist Jayne Leonard for more on this) remind me daily of the deliberate heart centred action it requires.
Love is a verb. The more we behave in loving ways towards ourselves (and I’m talking to myself here, too), getting enough sleep and rest, eating well, moving, leaving time for fun and love, the more we build and balance our heart centres and enhance that love for ourselves and others.
How about you?
How might you show yourself you love and appreciate yourself on a several times a day basis?
Remember, whether you're undoing DECADES of self loathing or at least 'just' the impact of living in a capitalist society geared at selling you fixes to flaws you didn't even know you had since before you were even old enough to consciously recognise it, it's a practice.
Be gentle with yourself.
In our next Dark New Moon Circle on Friday 5th June (6-6.45pm for Half Moon members of the Embodied with Evei online community with a deeper dive - including a gorgeous Metta practice to (with practice) truly transform any residual self-loathing to self love and another unique and yummy yoga nidra - for Half Moon and Super Moon members at 6.45pm) we'll be setting heart centred intentions for the new lunar cycle and beyond.
To join us, simply RSVP by emailing Dark New Moon July to me at eve@selfcarecoaching.net
You'll then be added to the list and receive the Zoom link.
Bring your journal and an open heart for yourself, your loved ones and the world (and we'll send love to the parts of yourself, your loved ones and the world that.
I love facilitating these online Circles and hope you'll be able to join us.
